What should I do about money when I travel?

The first thing is to call your bank and make sure they know you will be traveling overseas so they don’t block your card for suspicious behavior!

If you'd like, you can pre-order the local currency before you go to start off with some money in your pocket. We recommend starting with anywhere from $200-$500 worth of the local currency, which will get you pretty far.

When abroad, you can withdraw cash from ATMs just like you do here. Take out larger sums of money at a time so you don’t rack up international fees. Keep this money safely stashed in your suitcase, and take only what you need when you’re out and about. You can bring a credit card as a backup form of payment, but make sure you have a debit card so you can withdraw money.
